Job Preparation and Attainment
Job Preparation and Attainment is given high priority in the overall approach to a successful future. Though we will be constantly building relationships with local businesses so that they may be more apt to hiring our program participants, it is essential that each person leaves our program with a skill and is hirable. This is essential if genuine independence is to be realized in the future. Classroom group instruction is provided on appropriate dress and grooming, interviewing, resume preparation, and work ethic. Role-plays are used to simulate real situations.

Our Vocational Services Program prepares homeless, veterans, formerly incarcerated, and unemployed women with the opportunity to gain/regain access to the workforce. Through individual case management, group-level educational workshops, work clothes and shoes vouchers, vocational training services, and job placement and referral services, Women In Progress empowers our clients to overcome professional obstacles that persist in the at-risk and high-risk population.

Our vocational services program is available to all women that are receiving our other services. Women that participate in the educational and employment programs will receive bus tickets for transportation assistance to educational services and job opportunities. Some women faced or currently deal with significant barriers to their academic success, including violence at home, extreme poverty, cultural adjustments as a consequence of being an immigrant or refugee, gang involvement or other outstanding justice issues, chemical dependency, and history of truancy. Women In Progress’ academic support system aims to help women that wish to further their education and return to school. The program provides all participants with an opportunity for educational and vocational success.
